He established a genetics laboratory and a bioarchaeology teaching partnership with Utica College, USA. His book on a Bronze Age settlement in southern Romania received a Romanian Academy award.

Former Alexander von Humboldt Fellow, director of the Interdisciplinary School of Doctoral Studies at UB.
